Helsinki’s aim is to reduce emissions by 85 per cent by 2030. One way of achieving this aim is to promote the circular economy and the sharing economy.

The central idea behind the circular economy is to keep products and materials in circulation for as long as possible by repairing and reusing them. Through sharing, renting and borrowing, products are put to efficient use, thereby reducing the need for new products. Products that have reached the end of their useful life are ultimately recycled into raw materials for new products.
